2009 - Was a year wherein 6 Awards were given to deserving recipients:
Ahmad Sarmast

Mr. Sarmast won first place for his humanitarian work devoting his time and efforts into re-building bombed out music school in Kabul, Afghanistan risking life and limb in a daily effort to teach music students.  He also sold his business and moved to Kabul solely for this purpose.

Dr. Christina Marchioni (Healthy Learning Paths)

Dr. Christina Marchioni, Executive Director of Healthy Learning Paths and 2nd Place recipient in 2009 of The David Chow Humanitarian Award Foundation was awarded for her humanitarian work in educating and helping children, parents and educators understand the importance of nutrition, sleep and exercise.

Terri Cadiente, (Rag Doll Restoration Foundation)

Terri Cadiente, 4th Place recipient in 2009 of The David Chow Humanitarian Award Foundation for her humanitarian work with The Stuntwomen’s Foundation, Ragdoll Restoration Foundation and donating life coaching services to women and girls in an effort to restore and build esteem.

2008 - Was a year wherein 8 Awards were given to deserving recipients:
Jay Goldinger, (Food on Foot)

Nominated and recognized for his humanitarian work in facilitating and founding Food on Foot, a Los Angeles feeding program for the homeless and poor, and for finding full time job opportunities for the homeless. (Link to Food on Foot’s website: http://www.foodonfoot.org/)

Bruno Serato, (Caterina’s Girls Club)
Nominated and recognized for his humanitarian work in founding and coordinating Caterina’s Girls Club which provides generous donations and serving over 35,000 hot meals a year to underprivileged children in the Southern California area.  (Link to his website: http://www.anaheimwhitehouse.com/about/bruno.php)
Amie Jo Greer, (C4S Girls)
Nominated and recognized for her humanitarian work in supporting and protecting women and children affected by domestic violence and for her work in creating Corner4Success Charitable Foundation to directly and positively enhancing the community.  (Link to her website: http://www.corner4success.com/home)
Adi Roche, (Chernobyl Children’s Project International)
Nominated and recognized for her humanitarian work in founding Chernobyl Children’s Project International, bringing awareness to the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster and providing medical treatment to children affected by the Chernobyl disaster. Dr. James Orbinski (Doctors Without Borders)

 

Nominated and recognized for his humanitarian work in coordinating Doctors Without Borders over recent years, and more recently for providing free medical services to other individuals worldwide.

Dr. Orbinski is the author of 2008 Best Seller, An Imperfect Offfering: Humanitarian Action For the 21st Century ( Bloomsbury-Walker) 2008.

Nominated and recognized for her documentary and work with rape victims in the Congo.

Brad Pitt (Make It Right Foundation)
Nominated and recognized for his humanitarian work in providing housing, funds and assistance to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, and for coordinating architects and designers in order to provide safe, efficient housing to the homeless in New Orleans. Dennis David (Fallbrook Youth Scholarships)
Nominated and recognized for his humanitarian work by assisting youths, athletes, and cheerleaders in the community in an effort to provide them with scholarships and purpose. 
   
2007  
Billy Rugh is the founder of Creative Planet School of the Arts in Baldwin Park. He is also the school's principal, teacher, choreographer, set designer, nurse and more. For all his hard work and dedication to the school and students, the David Chow Foundation honored him with the David Chow Humanitarian Award. Trustee, Harry Wong, presented Rughwith a $10,000 check and a medallion for his achievement of the Humanitarian award.The crowd cheered and gave Rugh a standing ovation.
Barbara Bennie Rost  and Terry Rost nominated and recognized for being instrumental in the adoption of Chinese children.
The ”Children of One Planet” Foundation is a non-profit organization that promotes the well-being and health of children from all over the world. Finding an abandoned baby in the mountains of the San Gabriel Valley inspired Azita Milanian to create the “Children of One Planet” Foundation. www.childrenofoneplanet.org
2004  
On July 7, 2004, The David Chow Humanitarian Award Foundation recognized Supervisor Michael Antonovich for his work promoting adoption for our County’s foster youth and his “efforts to promote the greater welfare of Los Angeles County residents.”
